WhatsApp Peacock?

WhatsApp is in the news today! Who doesn't use WhatsApp? The service is being used by 1.5 Billion people world wide! Holy macaroni, and imagine that service being able to generate income for already one of the biggest companies in the world, Facebook. Not many people know, or now they should know that Facebook owns WhatsApp. They acquired the company back in 2014 for a whopping $22 billion dollars. And with any big acquisitions changes are bound to happen, in 2018 Facebook announced that they would monetize WhatsApp by selling ads on the app to generate more revenue. They even unveiled prototypes of how these ads would look like, last May in the Status feature for a brief time. Kinda like how Instagram stories work (which is also owned by Facebook).  However things didn't go as planned. Facebook does plan to eventually use ads in the statuses but not yet, maybe sometime in the future. Right now the company is focusing on "money-making features allowing businesses to communicate with customers and better manage those interactions". Maybe this strategy will work for them, it sure does benefit the rest of us to be able to use the service free of charge and without any annoying ads getting in the way. So let's just all enjoy the ad free use of WhatsApp...until changes come whatever they may be. Iron Man VR. Well for someone who loves to play video games, this one is really exciting! So PlayStation announced back in early of 2019 that a Iron Man game was already in development and it was slated to be released later in the year, however based on a statement from the spokesman from PlayStation said that it will be "the ultimate Iron Man Fantasy VR". Due to the extensiveness & complexity of the game, giving the player the fantasy of being able to be in and fly in Iron Man's suite, the game has been delayed to May 15th. Previously it was supposed to be released on February 15th.. Which I completely understand as Virtual Reality games must be so hard to make, and in this case being able to be Iron Man in a first person perspective in a virtual reality game must be so hard to make and develop to make it as real as possible must be a huge feat to accomplish. Take a look at the Tweet that was sent out today from the company "Camouflaj" that's been making the game.

Best believe that I'll be saving up to get the VR headset and pre order the game from PlayStation when it becomes available. That's not the only game that PlayStation has had to delay either. Square Enix delayed the release of Marvels Avengers Video Game to be released in September 4th, Final Fantasy 7 Remake has been delayed about a month and on Thursday CD Projekt Red most anticipated game Cyberpunk 2077 has been delayed from April to September. We'll see how Sony's PlayStation releases these games, given the fact that they're delaying them to polish them up means these games should be in perfect condition once released. Apple News! Iphone, Apple, the Big A. Whatever you would like to call it. Is in the news, whenever aren't they in the news? Well this one was from yesterday, but it really captured my attention. So Apple recently acquired a small start up company called "Xnoir.ai" for $200 Million (according to a report from GeekWire, siting "sources with knowledge of the deal"). This company  specializes in developing complex AI systems that are extremely efficient, able to use small amounts of power to run locally on devices such as smartphones instead of sending data to external data servers. The company also specialize in creating algorithms that capture and process images on small devices. Previously this complex process was only able to be done via the cloud servers. The company has already implemented their New Tech in a smart camera company called "Wyze" in it's "person detection" feature. The technology also future proofs Apple's smartphones by a variety of ways, such as augmenting it's existing camera capabilities, or could be used in apps for better machine learning advancements. It also continues a multiyear push by Apple to run AI on it's devices as a way to help ensure the privacy of it's users. Basically apple is getting into the A.I. world. Recently Samsung unveiled in CES 2020 it's own personal Artificial Intelligence project called "NEON". Giving a face to Google's assistant and Alexa. But Neon is it's own thing and it's not an assistant, rather a companion, an A.I. being, that is there to be with you and learn alongside with you. To get more info about this check out this article from "The Verge" (https://www.theverge.com/2020/1/8/21056424/neon-ceo-artificial-humans-samsung-ai-ces-2020).

Crazy stuff we're getting into for the start of 2020, but Apple wants a bite out of it and so we'll see how Apple end's up implementing this tech to their devices.
