No you're not imagining things, this is an actual car. Well a concept car but it's real, not available to the public just yet but maybe one day it will be. Say hello to the Rolls-Royce 103EX, an all autonomous fully electric, elegant, sophisticated, luxury car you'll ever see. This car is massive with a length from front to back at 19.4 feet long! This car is impressive to look at but also to drive, that is with no steering wheel. That's right, this car is fully autonomous and rely's on the most sophisticated of artificial intelligence to get you to your destinations. The name of this A.I. is called Eleanor which is actually the embodiment of the bonnet ornament sculpture in the front hood on all of the Rolls-Royce cars. Inside the car you'll find real wood, a large silk lounge chair, and handwoven wool carpet. Eleanor is on a huge OLED screen right in front of the lounge chair which displays all of your previous destinations and other interactive necessities you may need. The wheels are covered which help with aerodynamics, the roof door swings upward, which allows you to literally just walk into your car without having to kneel your head down to get in, you can stand up straight in your car. Once inside you'll be able to interact with Eleanor who is your virtual chauffeur, in the future Eleanor will be able to do more such as inform your destination that you'll be running late or if it detects traffic and other commuting inconveniences. So Huawei is back in the news, they're back in the spotlight, they're making moves you know. In spite of all the negativity they're facing, they're working hard, making business deals, and that's what we're going to cover today, not many of you know, or maybe you do but ima brief you here...see what I did there? Nice right, yea I'm cool alright so,Huawei is a huge electronics company in the eastern part of the world, more specifically China. They are HUGE. like it's a massive company. And so they have been making a lot of buzz lately because of their electronic devices more specifically their smartphones. They're really good phones, with top notch specs that compete right alongside with Samsung and Apple.
So the issue is that the U.S. government has a thing against Huawei due to security reasons and so President Trump put a ban from U.S. companies doing business with Huawei. What does this mean? Huawei can't use Google. And Google is the major provider for applications used by everyone in the world. Such as Google Maps, YouTube, and other major applications that are in the Google Play store even in the App store for Apple. So you get a really top of the line smartphone built with high quality materials and high end specs and excellent cameras but you can't jump into YouTube to watch videos? You can't use Google's User Interface or Google Apps in the Play store? That's a major set back in the software side of things. However! like I said, they're making business deals, they're not just sitting around waiting for the U.S. ban to be uplifted, NO! they recently made a deal with the GPS provider TomTom to use their maps, traffic information & navigation software to develop their own mobile apps! What a comeback, they were down by 20 points, but came back after the half and cut the lead to only by 10. Yea that's a major development because this means that Huawei can do their own thing, they don't have to rely on Google. They even are creating their own User Interface called HarmonyOS which sounds awesome to me and is a direct competitor to Android. The company said they would roll out the new operating system within the next few years and will be designed to work across a variety of devices including TV's, smartphones, tablets and other gadgets made by Huawei. They are even making their own app store called "App Gallery" which they announced that they are investing about $25 Million for app developers from other countries to start making apps for their new App Gallery.
So yes, Huawei is under a lot of pressure and negativity, but look at all of the work their doing, their basically making their very own ecosystem. Soon in the future we'll be talking about Android, Apple & Huawei as they each will have their own ecosystems. Huawei even have TV's & Computers and Tablets. So they've got the hardware, they even have the technology because they have their own 5G networks, now their working on their own software, we'll see where this will lead to. Stay tuned. So here's one to get you thinking. Toyota has decided to move into the technology world in a more dramatic way. They announced in CES 2020 (Consumer Electronic Show) that they'll be building a city close to Mt. Fuji, dedicated to experiment with future technologies using real world applications, the city will be called Toyota's Woven City. So what does this mean? It meas that the technology of the future such as autonomous vehicles, self driving delivery robots, in home robotic assistants and more will be used on the daily by humans in a real world living application. Toyota's plan is to have 2,000 people living in a 175 acre site not too far from Mt.Fuji some time in the near future. Construction will begin in early 2021. The idea is to bring together autonomous driving tech, hydrogen fuel cells power production and real-world learning. These residents will be like guinea pigs using new technology for trial and error to faster develop them for the main market. It'll be basically a city of the future, or Tomorrow Land if you will. Many of the residents will be Toyota researchers, retirees and their families. Very interesting idea, we'll see how this turns out and if they'll allow visitors to come by and see for themselves. Elon Musk's SpaceX successfully tests Crew Dragon safety system. Yes that's a rocket exploding you see there, however it's unmanned meaning no one was on-board. It was a test launch to test the In-flight abort (IFA) safety system that will protect actual astronauts if anything were to go wrong in real future missions that have a crew on-board. Apparently the system worked as it was supposed to which propelled the Crew Dragon away from the Falcon 9, it was launched on top of at high speeds. In an actual emergency, this would make sure that the astronauts onboard were transported to a safe distance and then returned to Earth at a safe speed using parachutes, which looks like deployed exactly as planned.
Elon Musk CEO of SpaceX stated that in the future when his spacecraft project is fully operational that it'll be making regular trips to Mars. Launching Star-ships as much as three times daily, with the goal of moving tons of cargo and up to a million people to Mars at full target operation pace. He's really looking into the future on this one, we'll see how it turns out. Another interesting topic I found is a new startup company called SpinLaunch which recently invested $35 million to use "Rational Force" to effectively fling payloads out of Earth's atmosphere without using any rockets. I found this very interesting, how and what would they use to "fling" or propel these rockets out to orbit? More details should be coming by soon, so stay tuned for that.
