PlayStation 5 - 30th Anniversary Edition

Well, the wait time is finally here...? Let me explain.

It has been 30 years since the first PlayStation came out on December 3rd, 1994, in Japan. It didn't get released to North America until September 9th, 1995.

Still 30 years is a milestone for the cross-generational gaming console. And what better way to celebrate this milestone with a limited edition 30th anniversary PlayStation 5 Pro bundle.

Keyword: LIMITED. A whopping 12,300 units will be sold worldwide. So, if you are fortunate enough to get your hands on one of those units, it comes with some bragging rights for sure, but also, you'll have the look of the nostalgic PlayStation 1 console.

There will be 2 bundles. They are as follows:

1. PlayStation 5 Pro Console - 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Bundle. $999.99 (retail price)

It will include the console with 2 TB SSD storage and WiFi 7 capabilities in supporting territories. Along with 1 controller with the same grey color scheme but with same design as the regular PS5 model.

2. PlayStation 5 Digital (non pro) - Limited Edition - $499.99 (retail price)

There is also a PlayStation Portal Limited Edition as well going for $219.99 (retail price). And the PlayStation Limited Edition DualSense Edge Controller for the same price. If you just want the regular DualSense Wireless Controller Limited Edition it will cost $79.99 (retail price)

My gripe with the console is that this time even the regular non-Limited-Edition PlayStation 5 Pro console does not come with a Disk Drive included. If you want that, you'll need to purchase it separately. And not only that, but also install it. For $700.00 USD I expect it to come with it already installed.

Beware of the Scalpers!

This morning, I got on the PlayStation official website and was placed on a waiting queue to enter the website in order to Pre-Order the console. After waiting for over an hour I was allowed to enter the site and to my disappointment, the Limited Edition PS5 Pro and PS5 slim were currently unavailable.

The Regular PS5 Pro was available for preorder.

After doing some more digging, I come to find out that Scalpers purchased most if not all of the Limited Edition consoles and are re-selling them on Ebay and other platforms for double, triple the retail price!

Unfortunately there is not much anyone can do at this point to solve this issue, But a word of warning, if you come across this console and you see it going for an insane amount and not what the retail price of the machine is, be careful. If you're willing to do it, go for it, but a rule of thumb, if it started out shady it could end shady as well.

One comment wrote that "who's to say, when it's supposed to be delivered on November 7th, the delivery driver catches a glimpse of the box and gets an idea?" It's possible. Back in 2020 when the PlayStation 5 first came out, the same thing happened. Scalpers grabbed all of the online inventory and started reselling them for triple the value and some people were left with an empty box when delivery time came.

Sometimes, it's best to let it sit for a while until the water stops boiling and then you can pick one up with much more confidence that your money is being well spent and you secure the product in your hands.

Now, is it worth the purchase?

If you want the latest and greatest, Yes.   If you're happy and content with what you have, No.

The new PS5 Pro Features a larger GPU
(Graphics Processing Unit). Which in turn
will heighten the quality and scale up the graphics
of the games you play.

Advanced Ray Tracing which also upscales the
graphics of your games, specifically lighting effects
to make the games much more immersive and realistic.
PlayStation is using it's own technology they're calling PSSR
which stands for PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution.

And lastly an AI-Driven upscaling software which is supposed to
make it even more graphically clean and pretty to the eyes.
It should also keep allowing you to maintain hitting higher framerates while gaming.
So you get fast response and beautiful visuals at the same time.
Which is nice.

It also will come with 2 TeraBytes of Storage to keep all your
favorite games on hand ready to play.

Well, that will do it for today's briefing. If you found anything interesting or value on this topic please like, share and subscribe to my blog post. You can also find me on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube using the links below. Until next time!
