Alien Vs Avengers!
Well, here's a mash up you wouldn't have thought about happening. Earth's Mightiest Heroes are up against the ultimate threat ...Alien, more specifically Xenomorphs.
How and why is this even happening? Well for starters as we know Avengers is from Marvel and Marvel is owned by Walt Disney Company.
Alien was owned by 20th Century Fox for a long time, however back in 2019 Walt Disney Company purchased the company and acquired most of the rights to their films. And one of which is the Alien Franchise.
The first Alien movie came out in 1979 directed by Ridley Scott which tells a story of main protagonist Ellen Ripley onboard a work cargo ship called the Nostromo. They were on their way back home to Earth when they receive a distress signal while in hyper sleep. And as per company protocol they had to be woken up and find the distress signal to help whoever put it out. And that's when the adventure or rather horror begins.
This really paved the way for the Sci-Fi Horror genre. It was a huge success which led to the sequel, Aliens which came out in 1986. The Director for the sequel was James Cameron who is very well known for directing the films Terminator, Titanic and more recently the Avatar franchise. By most accounts Aliens is by far the best Alien movie to date, even after numerous movies made after it. But what's more interesting is the fact that just a couple of years after the sequel, in 1988 the first Alien comic series was published. It was published by a company called Dark Horse Comics, and it was intended to expand the Aliens movie and in essence create a larger expanded universe of the movies setting. It was such a success that after numerous other Alien comics they started including crossovers with other popular franchises of the Sci-Fi genre which included Predator and Terminator.
Until Micky Mouse and all his cheese came in and bought out the Alien comics from Dark Horse in 2021, as it had its own ideas of telling the story. And they've been making new comics of Alien since then. However, under this new umbrella, it gave story tellers the flexibility to include a new breed of crossovers. Enter The Sandman, I mean Avengers Assemble! The first Aliens Vs Avengers was supposed to be published on July of 2024, however after further research it looks like they had to push it out to August 28th, 2024. The story is told by Jonathan Hickman (writer) and Esad Ribic (artist). In fact there is already a second comic due to be released on November 2024 to continue on with this new franchise. The description of the comic seems catchy it reads "Aliens and Avengers Face Off! It's all led to this: Xenomorphs reach Earth! The perfect organism meets a planet of superhumans. Who will be first to fall?"
Well, who do you think will be first to fall? Alien, Avengers, or both with this new comic franchise crossover?
