TikTok Spotlight

 

Have you ever scrolled through the endless feed of TikTok and landed on a Show or Movie clip that instantly grabbed your attention, kept you on the hook and ended abruptly at the precise moment that left you wanting more!? Needless to say, you looked to the bottom of the video to find the name of the movie or show, and you were left with a nasty # symbol with the words "thrillermovie", "mystery", "mustwatch", but NO TITLE! Then you end up in the comments sections hoping that someone with a keen eye and movie enthusiast was able to point out the film or show for you to look up. However, at times, this can result fruitless. 

Fret not my friends because TikTok has also felt the same way about these videos. Introducing TikTok Spotlight which allows users to see details about the show or movie. The page will include a synopsis, cast info and official accounts, as well as other TikTok's linked to the same title so you can keep finding more cookies about the clip you just watched. The landing page will also include details on where to watch the show or movie if it's on a streaming service, or a way to buy tickets if the film is still in theaters. Pretty cool right! 

However, this isn't a new feature. TikTok released a similar feature back in 2021 for the music industry. And this has been controversial topic for some time, especially since the rise of A.I. Generated music mimicking singer's voices and even full-fledged songs. However, TikTok made the artists extremely popular and it's for this reason it still exists. Now actors want to get in the action to promote their movies. Either way, as movie & show goers are concerned, it's another tool to keep adding to their collection for finding entertainment you want to watch.
